Backpack Blessings - First United Methodist Church
SCAR is the home for Backblessings. The group stores supplies and packs the meals in our building.
the First United Methodist Churh started this ministry began in 2015 as a way to provide weekend meals to preschool and elementary aged children in Holdrege. While in school children have access to breakfast and lunch but what about during the weekend? In it’s first year, Backpack Blessings served over 120 children! All children at Holdrege Elementary, All Saint’s, and Head Start are eligible to register for the program. Kids can also receive summer packs at the Kids Cafe during June and July at the Presbyterian Church.
Volunteers pack the food once a month and deliver food packs every week of the school year.
