SCAR Aid - Special Funding Criteria and Guidelines
SCAR provides assistance to area individuals who are affected by addiction (including family members) and those affected by abuse. Call (308) 248-0123 for assistance.
An intake has been developed and will be completed with each individual requesting access to special funding.
1. A genuine desire to get sober and engage in activities that are conducive to sustained recovery.
2. Financial need must be shown in order to be approved for funding. Individuals will be asked to provide certain financial information such as: employment status, family composition, health insurance status, involvement with other agencies such as probation or HHS and will be asked to provide a current paystub.
3. Individuals must be residents of Phelps, Kearney, Harlan, Frankin, Gosper and Furnas Counties to be eligible for assistance, however services may be provided/received in other counties.
4. Individuals with health insurance may still be eligible for funding to assist with co-pays and deductibles based on financial need. Most insurance companies will not pay for substance abuse evaluations (only Medicaid and BCBS do and they have requirements for paying).
5. Individuals receiving vouchers through probation and/or Health and Human Services will not be approved for funding unless extenuating circumstances exist.
6. Funding will not be approved for purposes of rent assistance, car repair, supplementing income, etc.
The following are services that funding may be used for:

Substance Abuse Evaluations - $300.00
Outpatient Counseling - $150.00/session
Intensive Outpatient Counseling - $1,500.00
Relapse Prevention Group - $100/session
Sober Living Community Deposit - $600.00
Residential Treatment Deposit m- $1,500.00
Alcohol/Substance Education Class - $250.00
Victim Impact Panel - $50.00
Gas vouchers to attend counseling and other recovery related travel - $200.00
Total Individual Maximum - $1,500.00
Preference will be given to providers who use a sliding fee scale and/or self-pay rates.
Providers must sign a memorandum of understanding with SCAR in order to be eligible to receive funding.
All payments will be sent directly to the provider, agency or organization.
